As a result the Asian Paralympic Committee and IPC Powerlifting are investigating other competition opportunities which could potentially take place later this year.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Local Organising Committee behind the 2013 IPC Powerlifting Asian Championships which were due to take place between 8-15 July in Gwangju, Korea, have cancelled the competition.

Such a move has deprived athletes in the region the opportunity to compete at the highest level and take part in a competition that would allow them to achieve the Minimum Qualifying Standard (MQS) for next year’s World Championships.

As a result the Asian Paralympic Committee and IPC Powerlifting are investigating other competition opportunities which could potentially take place later this year.

Any National Paralympic Committees are advised to contact the Local Organising Committee in Gwangju directly for any money they are owed from this cancellation.

The 2014 IPC Powerlifting World Championships will take place in Dubai, UAE, between 5-11 April, attracting between 250 to 300 athletes from 50 countries.
